Why Chinese cars now define Egypt's mainstream
Currency pressure and import economics reshaped the Egyptian car market over 2024–2026. Chinese brands — already competitive on equipment and warranty — moved from a curiosity to the structural core of the affordable and mid-market segments. On AutoChine Egypt we currently track 23 brands, of which 22 have live EGP pricing across 151 individual models.
The catalogue is body-type lopsided by design of demand: SUVs dominate (about two-thirds of all models), followed by sedans, with a handful of pickups, MPVs and a single hatchback and touring entry. That mirrors how Egyptian buyers shop in 2026 — a compact-to-mid SUV is the default family purchase.

The five EGP price bands
Mapping every model to its lowest EGP trim gives a clear picture of where the market actually sits:
- Under EGP 500k (12 models) — entry sedans and small SUVs from JAC, MG, Jetour, Haval, BAIC. These are the most aggressive headline prices; always confirm whether the figure is the full on-road price or an indicative starting figure with the dealer.
- EGP 500k–1M (28 models) — the value heartland: Chery Tiggo 4 Pro (EGP 950,000), Geely Coolray, GAC GS3.
- EGP 1M–1.5M (60 models) — the single largest band. Mid SUVs and well-equipped sedans: Chery Tiggo 7/8, MG HS, Geely Starray, BYD Qin Plus.
- EGP 1.5M–2.5M (41 models) — premium mainstream and electrified: BYD Atto 8, MG ZS EV, Deepal S07, Jetour T2.
- Above EGP 2.5M (10 models) — luxury/flagship: Avatr 11/12, Li Auto L7/L9, Hongqi EHS9.
Who actually sells you the car
In Egypt the distributor matters as much as the brand, because parts, warranty service and resale all flow through that group's network.
- GB Auto (Ghabbour Group) — the broadest Chinese portfolio: Chery, Haval/GWM, Changan, Deepal, Li Auto, plus the Chery sub-brands. Local CKD assembly at the Prima plant for several models.
- Mansour Group — BYD entered Egypt officially in February 2026 via the Mansour Group (MAC Mobility). Mansour also runs Soueast through Maneast and distributes MG via Al Mansour Automotive.
- Abou Ghaly Motors — exclusive Geely agent.
- Al Kasrawy Group — Jetour, JAC and the luxury Avatr BEVs, plus AITO.
- Jameel Motors Egypt — GAC, exclusive since 2006, with a flagship Cairo store.
